As an Solution Engineer - Mid-Market , you work closely and enable our Corporate sales teams with a variety of internal strategy and customer-focused services to assist in achieving bookings goals. This senior level requires you to be a subject matter expert in this technical selling role working closely with AppFolio Property Manager leadership making decisions that will impact the Property Management Industry. You will be responsible for technical aspects of proposed solutions working in close partnership with our APM Sales team. You will drive sales with technical acumen, product expertise, product demonstrations, sales ability and a superior customer focus. SE’s participate as part of the sales team to achieve or exceed revenue targets.

Requirements

  • Experience selling, demonstrating, supporting, implementing or working closely with SaaS applications.
  • The ability to build extraordinary relationships with customers, team members and cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales Operations and Product Teams.
  • A passion for customer satisfaction, an affinity for details and possesses a record of independent action.
  • Focused on value: Foundational understanding of software sales and the role of an SE
  • Ability to Build Strong Partnerships: with Sales reps, Product team, and Customer Success Team Player
  • Curious Minded: about technology and business process/pain/goals
  • Ability to diagnose prospect needs and build relationships through value-based approach
  • Ability to uncover business requirements, analyze and understand customer systems and problems, and deliver solutions to clients
  • Must have 5+ years of direct, hands-on technical software experience in a customer-facing role as a Sales Solution Engineer
  • Strong Communication/Presentation Skills
  • Understands competitive positioning
  • High level of exposure to complex sales cycles
  • Accounting understanding preferred
  • Thrives in fast paced environment
  • Experience with Salesforce, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom, Google Docs
  • Up to 20% travel

Responsibilities

  • Drive new opportunities and assist the sales team in closing deals by managing the technical aspects in all of the sales cycle from discovery to due diligence.
  • Work cross-functionally across product development, engineering, services, and marketing teams to penetrate a new AppFolio market.
  • Leverage product knowledge to provide technical expertise to the sales team and customers.
  • Conduct customer needs analyses and assist in overcoming objections and problem solving.
  • Technical sales presentations; product demonstrations; and product proof of concepts, focusing on value the product brings to the customer.
  • Participate in customer facing meeting events such as Trade-Shows and Meet-Ups.
  • Work directly with the sales leadership team to assist reps on best practices as needed.
