About The Position

Join the Avalara Solutions Consultant team and partner with Sales Executives, Customer Account Managers, prospects, and customers to drive adoption of Avalara Tax Research (ATR), AvaTax for Accounts Payable (AP), and Exemption Certificate Management (ECM). In this role, you will help shape and execute product-specific go-to-market motions, build pipeline, influence bookings, and enable aligned sellers to consistently position and attach these solutions across both new and existing accounts. This is a hybrid remote role reporting to a Director, Solutions Consultants. This is a sales role and you must reside in the United States. This role is not eligible for sponsorship. To be considered, expertise in sales and use tax compliance—including tax research, use tax, and exemption certificate management—is required.

Requirements

  • You have 5+ years of expertise in sales and use tax, including tax research, use tax compliance, and vendor and customer exemption certificate management.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical product capabilities into clear business value.
  • You have 5+ years experience in a sales, pre-sales, solution’s consulting, or customer-facing technical role.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Slack, and similar collaboration tools.
  • This is a sales role and you must reside in the United States.
  • This role is not eligible for sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for the three compliance products (ATR, AP, ECM).
  • Maintain deep knowledge of sales and use tax regulations, trends, and challenges, serving as a subject matter expert for sellers and customers.
  • Participate in partner-facing activities such as webinars, trade shows, and user groups to support pipeline growth.
  • Build plans and presentations that align to strategic product goals and budget targets.
  • Increase product knowledge, acumen, and demo/talk-track certification across aligned sales teams.
  • Create regular forecasts and performance updates for leadership.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams—including Product, Marketing, Implementation, and Support—to drive revenue, refine product strategy, and support retention.
  • Provide actionable guidance on generating new opportunities, improving outreach, and maintaining healthy pipeline hygiene.
  • Help build top-of-funnel activities by understanding customer environments and recommending end-to-end solution paths.
  • Represent the Voice of the Customer, surfacing insights that inform product improvement and GTM strategy.
  • Deliver training on talk tracks, success stories, objection handling, and solution positioning.
  • Clearly articulate and present Avalara’s value to internal stakeholders, prospects, customers, and partners.
