About The Position

The Solution Architect is responsible for translating business objectives into comprehensive end‑to-end solution designs that span the organization’s core banking systems, digital channels, data platforms, and security architecture. This role establishes and maintains the solution blueprint, integration patterns, and non‑functional standards across multiple technology platforms.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma Required
  • 3-5 years similar or related experience in architecture roles (solution and/or system), designing multi system solutions that span integrations, data, and security required.
  • Strong integration architecture skills (REST/GraphQL, messaging/eventing, file based exchanges), API lifecycle and governance, and secure design patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and enforce NFRs (availability, performance, security, DR).
  • Excellent communication, able to explain tradeoffs and decisions to technical and non technical audiences; strong facilitation and documentation habits.
  • Hands on Systems Architecture background (application/platform internals, component design, API/interface definition, performance tuning).
  • Familiarity with ARB processes and architectural decision records; comfort operating in a Lean/Agile delivery model.
  • Exposure to cloud and data platforms (e.g., Azure, containerized workloads; modern data platforms and analytics).
  • Knowledge of regulatory and security frameworks relevant to financial institutions.
  • Integration: API gateways, event streaming/messaging, ETL/ELT, iPaaS
  • Platforms: Core banking (e.g., Fiserv DNA), digital banking, LOS, CRM, payments
  • Cloud/Dev: Azure, containers, CI/CD, IaC; observability and SRE practices
  • Data/Security: Data modeling/governance, identity/privileged access, encryption, secrets management, threat modeling

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial services (credit union, bank, or fintech) with familiarity in one or more of: core banking, digital banking, payments, LOS, fraud/risk, or card services preferred.
  • Experience with core banking, digital banking platforms, and vendor ecosystems. during conversions or large implementations.
  • Relevant certifications a plus (e.g., TOGAF, SAFe, cloud, security).

Responsibilities

  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into target solution architectures, integration contracts, and transition‑state designs.
  • Define system interfaces, data flows, and event‑driven interactions across core banking, digital channels, payments, LOS, CRM, data, and security domains.
  • Develop architectural decision records, diagrams, and views to guide delivery teams and support stakeholder understanding.
  • Establish reliable, secure, and reusable integration patterns, including APIs, event streams, and file‑based exchanges.
  • Collaborate with vendor solution architects and internal technology owners to ensure alignment of solution designs, environments, and implementation plans.
  • Provide deeper architectural analysis for one or more platforms (e.g., digital banking systems, core banking, payments) as needed to define module boundaries, performance expectations, and configuration standards.
  • Offer technical guidance to engineering teams on API design, resilience patterns, observability practices, and secure configuration.
  • Align solution designs with enterprise architecture standards and participate in Architecture Review Board (ARB) checkpoints as required.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of architectural patterns and standards.
  • Incorporate financial‑services regulatory controls (e.g., GLBA, NCUA expectations), security‑by‑design principles, and privacy‑by‑default requirements into architectural decisions.
  • Reduce delivery risks by clarifying non‑functional requirements, including availability, performance, disaster recovery (DR), RTO/RPO, security, capacity planning, and testability.
  • Support product and delivery teams with backlog refinement, story decomposition, and traceability between business outcomes and architectural decisions.
