About The Position

Condé Nast is a global media company producing the world's most iconic lifestyle, journalism, and fashion brands, including The New Yorker, Vogue, Epicurious, and Wired. Our mobile engineering teams build the digital products that deliver world-class storytelling and premium experiences to millions of readers worldwide. We are building a multi-brand mobile application portfolio that balances code reuse through shared infrastructure with the unique design and feature requirements of each premium brand. Our current portfolio includes native iOS and Android applications built with Swift and Kotlin, as well as Flutter-based cross-platform apps. We are evolving our architecture toward greater efficiency through shared SDK components while maintaining the flexibility to adopt emerging technologies as the mobile ecosystem continues to evolve rapidly. Our tech stack: Languages and frameworks: Flutter/Dart, Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android) APIs and integration: REST, GraphQL, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect Analytics and experimentation: Embrace, Snowplow, Firebase, Growthbook We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect, Mobile Apps to provide technical leadership across our mobile engineering organization. You will work with globally distributed teams spanning the United States, United Kingdom, India, and Spain, including both full-time employees and specialist partners.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 5+ years focused on mobile application development and production apps at scale
• Strong expertise in cross-platform frameworks (Flutter preferred) and native mobile development (iOS with Swift and/or Android with Kotlin)
• Proven experience architecting shared infrastructure, SDKs, or component libraries for multi-app environments
• Deep understanding of mobile architecture patterns, state management, and performance optimization
• Experience integrating authentication systems, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and backend services
• Track record of technical leadership through code review, mentorship, and establishing engineering standards
• Experience working with distributed engineering teams across multiple geographies
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, app store deployment, and mobile DevOps practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex technical trade-offs
• Excellent communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

• Understanding of media, publishing, or subscription-based business models a plus
• Experience with consultant or partner engineering teams valued

Responsibilities

• Define mobile architecture strategy and technical standards across a multi-app, multi-brand portfolio
• Design shared SDK and component architecture that enables code reuse while preserving brand-specific experiences
• Lead architectural design reviews and provide technical direction on complex mobile engineering challenges
• Establish and enforce coding standards, architectural patterns, and engineering best practices
• Review code and mentor engineers across Flutter, iOS, and Android development
• Partner with product, design, and backend teams to architect scalable solutions for subscription, authentication, content delivery, and user engagement features
• Collaborate with platform engineering teams to design mobile-optimized APIs and integration patterns
• Evaluate emerging mobile technologies and frameworks, providing recommendations on when to adopt or pivot
• Drive quality and performance standards across the app portfolio
• Document architectural decisions and build technical knowledge within the organization
• Work effectively across time zones with distributed engineering teams and external partners
