As a Software Test Engineer III, you will join a highly effective product quality team in Waltham, MA. This team supports the RHYTHMIA HDx Mapping System—our next-generation 3D cardiac mapping and navigation platform used during minimally invasive electrophysiology (EP) procedures. The role is embedded in an Agile development environment, with hands-on ownership of testing responsibilities for both new features and core functionality. This position requires both strategic leadership and technical execution. You'll mentor junior engineers and new hires, lead test development efforts, and contribute to both manual and automated testing of components across the user interface, algorithms, and back-end. You will also collaborate cross-functionally with software, hardware, and field teams to ensure robust and compliant testing. Work model, sponsorship, relocation: At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years' experience in software testing or a related field, or a minimum of 2 years' experience with a master's or advanced degree.
  • Degree preferably in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Product quality and testing experience, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Experience with test automation in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • Programming experience in Python, C, or C++ (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent documentation and technical writing skills.
  • Strong learning agility with the ability to master complex systems and tools quickly.
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum development processes.
  • Logical thinker with a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a strong team collaborator.
  • Understanding of ISO and FDA documentation and compliance for medical devices.
  • Prior experience with ultrasound devices (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute test cases to verify system functionality and ensure alignment with business and user requirements within the Electrophysiology domain.
  • Perform manual test execution and/or run automated test scripts.
  • Ensure all testing activities are conducted in accordance with established procedures.
  • Document test results and generate formal test reports.
  • Identify and report issues in the bug tracking system and suggest potential enhancements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and new team members; support onboarding and technical training.
  • Lead or support test development for new product features.
  • Contribute to defining test strategy, methodologies, and test data setup.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily scrums, product reviews, and bug triage meetings.
  • Collaborate with software developers, hardware engineers, field teams, and other cross-functional partners.
