About The Position

We are seeking a Software Systems Engineer II (SKI Design & Management Focus) to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will support the design and management of secure systems infrastructure, including certificate and key management solutions, while configuring authentication mechanisms across networked systems—playing a key part in ensuring secure, mission-critical operations. The ideal candidate will bring experience in systems or security engineering, including working with certificates, authentication, or key management processes, as well as familiarity with Red Hat, Windows, and Windows Server environments. This is a full-time position based in Manassas, Virginia. U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance are required at the time of hire. The annual base salary is $84,000 to $115,000, with final compensation based on experience and skills. Candidates will be paid within this range based on their work experience and capabilities. Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field; or a minimum of 6 years of equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 2–4 years of experience in systems engineering, security engineering, or integration.
  • Experience with Red Hat, Windows, and Windows Server operating environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of certificate management, authentication, and secure system design principles.
  • Ability to contribute to technical documentation and procedures related to system security and certificate management.
  • Familiarity with integrating security mechanisms into networked systems.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, supports, and maintains the organization’s systems infrastructure with a focus on secure authentication and certificate management solutions.
  • Analyzes, develops, modifies, tests, and maintains systems supporting certificate and key management processes.
  • Supports the design and implementation of Symmetric Key Infrastructure (SKI) solutions within networked systems.
  • Downloads, configures, and maintains certificates from external Certificate Authorities.
  • Configures client certificates to support authentication across systems.
  • Creates and maintains procedures for certificate lifecycle management and related tasking.
  • Makes updates to system-related installation and security documentation.
  • Supports additional system and network engineering tasks as needed.
  • Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
  • Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.
