Software Program Manager

Emporia EnergyLittleton, CO
10h$100,000 - $140,000Onsite

About The Position

We need someone to keep our lean software engineering team shipping. You'll coordinate delivery across app, cloud, design, and firmware, manage handoffs with external technical partners, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. You’ll report to the Head of Software. This role starts as program management: coordination, delivery, partner management. For the right person, it has the potential to grow into product management and AI workflow orchestration. You'll build product context and engineering relationships while learning how we use AI to ship faster. The program management work is how you earn credibility to expand scope.

Requirements

  • Strong communicator, written and verbal. This is the job.
  • Organized. You notice when things slip and fix the process, not just the symptom.
  • Technical enough to follow engineering discussions. You won't write code, but you should know how software ships.
  • Self-directed. You see what needs doing and do it.
  • Adaptable. We use AI tools aggressively and the way we work changes month to month. You should already be using AI in your current role and be excited to push further.
  • 2-5 years in program management, project management, or technical coordination
  • Experience working directly with software engineering teams
  • Open to adjacent backgrounds (support leads, QA managers, dev ops coordinators) with strong coordination skills

Nice To Haves

  • External vendor or partner management is a strong plus
  • IoT, energy, or hardware+software company experience
  • Track record of improving delivery predictability
  • Already using AI tools daily: meeting notes, research, drafting, automation
  • PMP or similar (not required; results matter more than frameworks)

Responsibilities

  • Bridge PRDs to Engineering. Ensure work is defined, tracked, and moving across three teams (App, Cloud, Firmware).
  • Own external partner relationships. Attend their meetings, translate their needs, drive follow-through.
  • Keep Jira useful, not ceremonial. Focus on providing visibility into progress and blockers.
  • Communicate delivery status to leadership ensuring there are no surprises.
  • Coordinate releases and deployment timelines.
  • Remove blockers, connect the right people and escalate when needed.
  • Document decisions and action items so the team has one source of truth.

Benefits

  • medical/dental/vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • employee stock option program
  • paid holidays plus unlimited PTO
  • discounts on Emporia products and partner offerings
