POSITION SUMMARY The Product Manager is responsible for advancing the maturity, clarity, and effectiveness of Southern First’s internally developed digital products. This role defines product outcomes, shapes priorities, and ensures work entering delivery is well-defined, validated, and aligned to business value. Working closely with Engineering, IT/Delivery, Risk, and business partners, the Product Manager helps ensure Southern First delivers technology solutions with greater focus, consistency, and predictability within a regulated banking environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or a related field required.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in product management or a related role.
  • Experience with Jira, Figma, Flowable and other similar tools.
  • Strong prioritization and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear product requirements.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, team-first mindset with strong integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial services or other regulated environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business strategies and operational needs into clear product goals and outcomes.
  • Maintain a shared understanding of product intent across business and technology teams.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to incorporate deep domain knowledge into product decisions.
  • Own backlog definition, prioritization, and sequencing of product work.
  • Work with the Head of Product to maintain the product roadmap.
  • Write user stories and translate product requirements into JIRA tickets for the engineering team.
  • Ensure initiatives are clearly defined, validated, and ready prior to entering delivery.
  • Make tradeoffs explicit and durable to reduce rework and mid-stream changes.
  • Partner with Engineering and IT/Delivery to align scope, dependencies, and readiness.
  • Define acceptance criteria and success measures for initiatives.
  • Conduct quality assurance testing and final sign off on all work published by the IT team.
  • Participate in release planning and go/no-go discussions.
  • Advocate for user-centered design across employee and client experiences.
  • Promote usability, consistency, and adoption across digital products.
