Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a talented Software Integration and Test Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team to create unique solutions to complex engineering challenges in our Huntsville, AL location. The Senior-Level Software Integration and Test Engineer will join a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team delivering software solutions across multiple DoD programs. A successful candidate will be analytical and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to define, assess, and execute test strategies. This role focuses on the integration and testing of large-scale software systems, including the development and execution of test procedures and clear communication of results to drive product validation and improvement. The team member will analyze, validate, and trace requirements to verification activities and lead execution across system integration, regression testing, and requirements verification. The role may include leading a team responsible for systems engineering, integration, and testing; therefore, the candidate must be able to provide technical guidance and direction in these areas. Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET-accredited university with at least 12 years of experience in a highly technical role OR a Master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET-accredited university with at least 10 years of experience in a highly technical role
  • Highly technical software and system test experience
  • Ability to work in an in-person lab environment
  • Experience developing and executing test plans and procedures, including documenting detailed test evidence and results
  • Experience identifying, tracking, and managing software defects and inconsistencies
  • Proven ability to collaborate closely with software engineers and cross-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Experience analyzing test failures and recommending issue criticality based on system and mission impacts and risk
  • Familiarity with system development processes, including systems engineering, software safety, requirements traceability, and software verification and validation
  • Experience developing and maintaining requirements traceability matrices (RTMs)
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with a motivation to solve complex problems
  • Experience mentoring peers and junior engineers on testing best practices and approaches
  • Residency in, or willingness to relocate to, the North Alabama area for on-site work
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in Agile and Scrum-based development environments
  • Experience testing complex system of systems architectures
  • Experience detailing and using test metrics to track execution progress and quality
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools
  • Working knowledge of IP networking and packet-level analysis using tools such as Wireshark
  • Developing test automation using Python or a comparable scripting language
  • Customer interaction and engagement in a technical environment
  • Decomposing high-level requirements into software test architecture and executable procedures
  • Leading software test teams of varying size and complexity
  • Experience operating with Scaled Agile Framework, including serving in leadership roles such as Product Owner and/or Scrum Master

Responsibilities

  • Create and review block diagrams and electrical system requirements
  • Create and review cable specifications and cable drawings
  • Parts selection and derating activities
  • New hardware design verification testing
  • Support system level integration activities
