Software Engineering Manager
About The Position
IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to manage a team of talented engineers and provide hands-on technical and project leadership. You will participate directly in software design and engineering, help develop the team by mentoring and coaching, and create processes that ensure productivity and efficiency. At IXL, we find it immensely satisfying to develop products that impact the lives of millions, and we are eager to have you join our team. #LI-NF1 This is a full-time position in our San Mateo, CA headquarters office. The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday in the office with the option to work from home one day per week.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of direct experience in software engineering and 2 years of engineering management
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science or a related discipline
- Excellent programming skills in Java or another object-oriented language
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Exceptional analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Passion for improving education through technology

- Enable efficient delivery of invaluable features supporting educators and learners in the ever-evolving education landscape
- Drive technical excellence across teams, elevating skills and practices from design to release
- Empower and motivate the team, fostering enthusiasm, growth, and professional development
- Illuminate the company's vision, mission, and values, instilling a deep sense of purpose and direction in each team member
- Collaborate seamlessly with the broader development team, prioritizing work and spearheading initiatives for outstanding results
