About The Position

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineering Manager to support our Flight Simulation | Labs Software team located in Berkeley, Missouri. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic and cohesive management team in a large, cross-functional integrated product team (IPT) developing the modeling and simulation capabilities that enable the cutting-edge capabilities going on today and tomorrow’s combat aircraft developed by the Air Dominance Division of the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. The ideal candidate will lead an Advanced Flight Simulation | Labs (FSL) software team supporting a proprietary program. A strong software leader will work closely with FSL hardware teams and program Mission Systems teams to deliver cutting-edge modeling and simulation capabilities that support the delivery of advanced aircraft capabilities. This role will be responsible for growing the team. The successful candidate will need to work as part of a cohesive leadership team. Adaptability, the ability to work closely with others, and an open mind are essential attributes of the management team members. Experience in leading teams is required; agile development experience and modeling and simulation or mission systems experience is preferred and highly beneficial.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of leadership experience, ideally leading software teams

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 1+ years’ experience working on real time Modeling and Simulation and/or Mission Systems products
  • Working knowledge of the Scale Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • 1+ years’ experience with Earned Value Management

Responsibilities

  • Manage employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers

  • Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
  • Summary pay range for Manager Level (Level L): $198,050.00 - $267,950.00.
  • This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
