Software Engineering Manager, AI Creation Tools
About The Position
Meta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our team. As an engineering manager you will support, enable and empower your team, managing high performing engineers to make a meaningful impact on billions of people around the world. Software Engineering Managers are clearly characterized by progressive technical experience and demonstrated progression in management responsibility. The Horizon AI Creation Tools teams are building game development tools that run on top of AI. This is cutting edge work that moves very quickly and across many tech stacks. Imagine a world where you can build unique games and other interactive content with zero code, art, audio, or other skills that more conventional game development requires. Instead, an AI assistant works closely with you to be whatever teammate(s) you might need. That's what we're building. Your team would be focusing on building a fantastic user experience when working with these tools. It works closely with the various other teams building foundational features and is the very top of the user funnel. The team members tend to be full stack engineers with some game development experience as well, working across stacks (WWW/React, C++, web services like Thrift, TypeScript, and more) and cross-discipline (PMs, designers, QA, data scientists, etc). • Shape the future of game development by building AI-first tools and contributing to the roadmap and strategy for the next major shift in the industry. • Work in a collaborative and innovative environment with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and impact. • Be a part of Meta's future and one if its top priorities - the intersection of AI and the metaverse.
Requirements
- 8+ years of, or PhD + 4 years of software engineering work experience, including hands on technical management
- Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, and leading technical organizations, including performance management
- Bachelor of Science/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Experience supporting, coaching, mentoring, and developing software engineers
- 2+ years of experience in managing a team of engineers with varied skill levels
- 2+ years of experience with game development tools (ex Unity, Unreal, Roblox Studio) or similar interactive media tools
- Demonstrated understanding of what makes a tool easy to use versus difficult
Nice To Haves
- Hands-on technical manager with experience building video games
- Experience working with Large Language Models and other AI tools and leveraging them to assist in tools and interactive creation
