Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. We are seeking a motivated and talented Software Engineer Intern to join our remote engineering team for the Spring 2026 term. As an intern, you will work on real-world projects that directly impact on our products. You will work alongside experienced engineers, gain exposure to cloud technologies, and make a meaningful impact in a real production setting.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OOP).
• Experience with one or more programming languages, such as Java, C#, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated interest in building scalable systems and real-world software applications.
• Demonstrated initiative in problem-solving, self-learning, and seeking clarification when needed.

Nice To Haves

• Prior internship or project experience in software development.
• Experience with Java/JavaScript
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
• Understanding of databases and SQL/NoSQL.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to software development projects by working on assigned tickets and features.
• Assisting in the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications within Availity’s platform.
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Participating in team meetings, code reviews, and releases.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product and QA, to deliver high-quality features.
• Conducting unit and integration testing to ensure software reliability and performance.
• Learning about healthcare data exchange standards and compliance considerations (e.g., HIPAA, EDI).
