About The Position
We’re looking for a Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2026) to support the design, development, and testing of Optigon's next generation measurement tools and analysis software. Applicants interested in data science and front end/back end development are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency with one or more of the following: Python, JavaScript/HTML/CSS, React (or similar), Django (or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership in a small team setting
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate across disciplines
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience with team software development (e.g., version control, code review, agile workflows)
- Interest in data science, scientific computing, or instrumentation software
- Familiarity with clean energy, materials characterization, or metrology applications
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the engineering team to define technical specifications
- Design and develop code across existing and new projects
- Participate in design reviews to provide feedback and suggest improvements
- Assist in the development of software infrastructure and internal procedures
- Deploy software to customers
- Document designs, test results, and other relevant information
- Contribute to improving internal workflows and processes
