About The Position

The Software Engineer Intern utilizes, adapts, and develops software and testing software for the command and control of satellite tracking antennas. The internship will take place in the summer of 2026 with flexibility for a May or June start time.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or other related fields. A minimum of one (1) year related experience with Linux operating systems and software development/scripting is required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience thereof.
  • Candidates must have experience with C/C++ and OOP concepts. Familiarity with Design Patterns in general is required.
  • Candidates must have experience with scripting languages and concepts (PERL, Python, JavaScript, and/or Shell scripting).
  • Candidates must have experience with Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CENTOS), SSH/SFTP, Yum/RPM usage.
  • Candidates must have basic IT experience.
  • Candidates must have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate information effectively to internal customers, managers, and technical staff are required.
  • The ability to obtain a future Security Clearance is required for the role. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with hardware/software electrical interfaces and concepts
  • Preferred experience with image deployment and testing Linux within virtualized environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with regular collation and testing/validation of Linux security updates. Updates hardening scripts to meet latest requirements.
  • Assists with developing and utilizing test software against existing C/C++, JavaScript, and SNMP interfaces for peripheral positioning/RF device embedded communication.
  • Assists with performing and documenting security scans.
  • Assists in the test and integration of the final products, as well as helps in troubleshooting issues with systems in operation as applicable.
  • In-Office Work Required.
