Team Overview: As an intern in the RAIN Reader Platform Development group, you will have the opportunity to work on a Reader feature that will impact and be used by Impinj customers. We have an exciting opportunity for a summer intern to design and implement a Developer Toolbox application—a modular, deployable package of diagnostic and performance tools that enhances developer productivity while keeping our core system images lean and production-aligned.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related a field
  • Experience in C/C++ and Python programming languages
  • Experience developing on a Linux platform
  • Familiarity with shell scripting and basic build concepts
  • Familiarity with performance analysis, benchmarking, and debug tools
  • Strong interest in embedded systems
  • Proven experience working independently in a fast-paced environment and the ability to self-manage
  • Interpersonal, organizational and relationship-building skills

Responsibilities

  • Design and define the contents of a Toolbox application for embedded Linux development and troubleshooting
  • Package diagnostic and performance tools (e.g., memory, storage, and system utilities) into a reusable, deployable application
  • Automate the application build process using our CI infrastructure
  • Produce a production-quality example application that serves as a reference for future tooling
  • Validate and document usage of the toolbox in a development environment

  • The start date is firm; the end date is flexible to end early.
