Role Summary Internship Term: Winter 2026 Co-op (Jan. 2026 - Aug. 2026) Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between Fall 2026 through Spring 2028. Note that if your university has specific requirements for internship programs, it is your responsibility to fulfill those requirements. The Digital Manufacturing Engineering team is at the forefront of innovation in manufacturing automation, utilizing advanced hardware and innovative technology to build a world-class automation platform to be deployed across every Rivian factory. This internship experience will allow an eligible candidate to contribute in developing this platform which seeks to enable efficiency and consistency within Rivian's machine across every factory.

Requirements

  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters, or PhD degree at an accredited university.
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team and collaborating with cross-functional teams on various technical projects.
  • Understanding developing software via object-oriented programming paradigm.
  • Understanding of programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, JavaScript, etc.
  • Understanding of Relational Databases such as PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MySQL, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing and expanding upon your software skills towards building libraries of modular code and templates for various automation components.
  • Leading our push for code organization, structure, documentation, maintainability, and reusability.
  • Developing full stack features within code generation tools.
  • Assisting in the creation of user-friendly HMI and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) screens for equipment operation and troubleshooting. Including optimizing data acquisition and transfer.
  • Designing software to interface between manufacturing equipment and supervisory systems like the MES.
