Our paid internships run 100% on-site from May/June through August/September, and all candidates must be actively enrolled students during the program. To learn more about internship program visit: https://www.panasonic.aero/internships The Android AOSP Platform Engineer Intern will work under the guidance of senior platform engineers to support Android system-level development initiatives. This role involves contributing to custom Android platform builds, troubleshooting system issues, and assisting with platform enhancement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Computer Science
  • Colleges in the PNW (Oregon, Washington) are preferred. Students graduating from Portland High schools are also preferred.
  • Must be able to commute and work on-site 5 days a week.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work on a full-time basis for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of any type of employment-based visa at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Android platform development by modifying AOSP framework components and system services.
  • Debug and resolve platform-level issues in Android builds across different device configurations.
  • Work with native C/C++ code, Java/Kotlin framework services, and HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) implementations.
  • Assist in porting and integrating new features into custom Android builds.
  • Collaborate with BSP (Board Support Package) and hardware teams to ensure system stability.
  • Participate in code reviews following AOSP contribution guidelines.
  • Help optimize system performance, boot time, and memory usage.
  • Document platform modifications and maintain build configurations.
