About The Position

The Software Engineer will play a key role in creating and maintaining machine configuration files that drive our precision manufacturing systems. This position focuses on developing and managing design-driven configuration files to ensure accurate system setup and performance on a deadline-oriented manufacturing schedule. You will collaborate closely with Software Engineering, Field Service, Technical Support, and Manufacturing Operations teams to deliver configuration solutions that support both production and customer requirements. In addition, you will assist with software validation and configuration testing to maintain quality standards. This role is based in Horsham, PA and supports our Precision Surface Processing (PSP) product line.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required; or an advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with no experience.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Experience interfacing with customers.
  • Skilled at Administrator level with the Microsoft Windows operating system.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming software applications and/or PLC devices is desired.
  • Experience operating industrial machinery and/or robotics is desired.
  • Experience in the Semiconductor industry is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Perform translation of electrical and plumbing schematics into configuration files that customize the manufactured product to meet customer process requirements.
  • Provide assistance to the Field Service and Global Product groups in support of customer service issues, sometimes handling these issues directly with the customer.
  • Support the Manufacturing department throughout the machine build and setup process, reconfiguring files as required to address issues and design modifications.
  • Develop and improve templates to support the semi-automated process for configuration file development.
  • Image, configure, and occasionally troubleshoot Windows PCs used in the product line.
  • Perform software unit and system testing as directed.
  • Additional tasks and projects to support other Veeco product lines or locations.
