About The Position

Intel's Sort Test Technology Development (STTD) Software and Infrastructure Team is seeking a hybrid Software & Infrastructure Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and support cloud-based applications and distributed systems that enable semiconductor manufacturing and test. This role blends hands-on software development with ownership of the platform and infrastructure required to run services at scale across both cloud and on-prem environments. In this role, you will help enable and operate the full stack-servers, VMs, Kubernetes, networking, OS images, and services-with a strong focus on security, reliability, automation, and operational excellence. You will partner with internal stakeholders and external customers to integrate systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and deliver secure, high-quality solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development (e.g., C#/.NET, Java, C++, Go, Python) including designing, testing, and debugging.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Azure and/or on-prem infrastructure (servers/VMs, virtualization, containers, Kubernetes).
  • 2+ years of experience with scripting/automation (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and Git-based workflows.
  • This position is not eligible for Intel Immigration Sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting production or mission-critical services including operational troubleshooting and incident response.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms, including setup, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with cloud-native tools, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and their integration within on-prem cloud and virtualized environments.
  • Experience in CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub, Ansible) and infrastructure-as-code methodologies
  • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, ELK Stack) for proactive infrastructure management aligned with NIST standards.
  • Experience with Azure services such as AKS, Azure Virtual Network (VNet), Azure Monitor/Log Analytics, and Key Vault.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code in Azure (e.g., Terraform, Bicep/ARM), plus automated configuration management.
  • Experience with security hardening and vulnerability management in regulated environments (e.g., STIG/CIS-aligned baselines, patch compliance, audit logging).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and debug cloud-based applications, platform services, and automation tooling supporting STTD capabilities.
  • Build and support distributed systems (APIs, microservices, data services, job orchestration, service-to-service integration) with reliability and performance in mind.
  • Engineer, deploy, and maintain infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments including servers, VMs, and Kubernetes (k8s).
  • Support on-prem compute and virtualization platforms and enable scalable environments for development, test, and production workloads.
  • Own and improve CI/CD pipelines and automation for build, deployment, configuration, and environment provisioning (infrastructure-as-code where applicable).
  • Perform and/or coordinate OS lifecycle management, including OS patching, patch validation, and operational change planning.
  • Provide operational support for services and platforms, including monitoring/logging, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvements to reliability and security.
  • Develop and maintain documentation (architecture, runbooks, deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides).

Benefits

  • We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive pay, stock bonuses, and benefit programs which include health, retirement, and vacation.
