In this software engineering role, you'll be on the front lines building the Generative AI platform that rapidly designs and generates complete industrial programs, guided by a team of expert software engineers from Waymo, Google, Princeton, BYU, and top AI startups. We partner with controls and robot engineers worldwide, leveraging a proprietary AI model to rapidly design and generate complete industrial programs, including PLC and robot code, documents, and manuals, in minutes. Built to bring together AI and industrial systems, our platform enhances workflows for devices from major OEMs like Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc, Yaskawa, and ABB, supporting both legacy systems and modern standards. Altitude AI is founded by a former Waymo engineer and Princeton CS alum, now on his fourth robot platform.

Requirements

Exceptional software engineering capabilities, especially in Python and C++.
Industrial automation experience is a plus, but not required, as you'll work directly with automation experts in this role.

Responsibilities

Generative AI & Code Synthesis: Design and build the core AI models that rapidly design and generate complete PLC and robot programs from specifications, engineering drawings, and natural language inputs.
Industrial System Integration: Design and build the platform and software connectors for importing, translating, and deploying industrial automation programs across major OEM devices.
Infrastructure: Design and build tooling for data management, troubleshooting, and the creation of AI-generated HMI and technical documentation (e.g., manuals, specifications).
