About The Position

Become a part of something IMPACT-ful! Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation’s defense against ballistic missile attacks. The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat. The Work As a software developer on the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Engagement Planner team, you will work in collaborative environment to understand, implement, and test existing and new capabilities and algorithms and may participate in code modernization and translating Ada code to C++. The algorithms and capabilities implemented by the Engagement Planner team are mathematics and physics based complex solutions that will be highly visible to the GWS customer, Missile Defense Agency (MDA). You will also be expected to support reviews of requirements and test cases that are developed in support of the Engagement Planner team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM related field, and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience, or 0 years with a PhD not to exceed 10 years
  • Experience with solving highly mathematical and physics based complex problems
  • Experience analyzing and implementing optimization algorithms
  • Recent and extensive Experience Developing Software in Ada or C++
  • Willingness to become highly proficient with Ada software development
  • Quick to learn and absorb new concepts and information
  • Recent MATLAB and Python Experience
  • Must have an Interim or Active Secret Clearance
  • Unix/Linux Operating System Experience
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing fire control solutions
  • Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
  • Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis
  • Experience with the MDA GMD program.
  • Experience with Agile Project Management tools (Jira/Confluence) and DevSecOps tools and methods (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Gitlab) of continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment (CI/CD) automation
  • Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics
