Torch Technologies is seeking multiple Software Independent Verification & Validation Engineers to support the evaluation, verification, and validation of software used in DoD missile systems, radar systems, and other mission- and safety-critical platforms. This role focuses on software integrity, airworthiness, analytical rigor, and lifecycle assurance to ensure software compliance with technical, safety, quality, and program requirements. Engineers at all levels will collaborate with systems, software, safety, and quality teams to assess software engineering processes, products, and automation across the system lifecycle. Level of responsibility and technical leadership will align with experience and grade. Key Responsibilities (All Levels): Perform independent verification and validation (IV&V) of software systems. Evaluate software compliance with airworthiness, safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements. Assess software integrity, robustness, reliability, and risk. Conduct software analysis of requirements, design, code, and test artifacts. Review software engineering artifacts for correctness, completeness, traceability, and consistency. Identify software anomalies, risks, and non-conformances, document findings and support resolution. Support system reviews, certification activities, audits, and program milestones. Utilize and/or develop software automation tools to support verification and analysis. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle. Level-Specific Expectations: Software Engineer I Entry-level or early-career position. Supports IV&V tasks under supervision. Assists with artifact reviews, test analysis, and documentation. Learns DoD processes, missile and radar system concepts, and applicable standards. Software Engineer II Performs IV&V tasks with moderate supervision. Independently conducts software analysis and reviews. Contributes to risk assessments and technical findings. Participates in peer reviews and program technical discussions. Software Engineer III Performs IV&V activities independently on complex systems. Leads analysis efforts for software subsystems or functions. Interfaces directly with program stakeholders and customers. Mentors’ junior engineers and supports process improvement. Software Engineer IV Senior-level technical authority in software IV&V and assurance. Leads IV&V strategy, planning, and execution across programs. Provides expert guidance on airworthiness, software integrity, and risk. Supports major reviews, audits, and customer engagements. Drives continuous improvement and technical best practices.
