Raytheon Technologies is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Principal Specialist) to join our talented team. The qualified candidate will be responsible for evaluating operational software problems and providing immediate solutions to restore service as well as integration and verification of new baselines. Location: Aurora, CO What You Will Do: Perform as technical subject matter expert for software products and interface with Prime customer on daily basis on mission execution Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation of software applications across multiple operating systems and hardware platforms Expected to troubleshoot and isolate sources of system errors or unexpected performance Determine the operational feasibility of software modifications Work autonomously or lead teams to develop software tools to complement maintenance activities Perform testing, integration and delivery of new software baselines Some team leadership duties may be required Ability to perform in-depth analysis and assessment with an end-to-end perspective of a complex system in operations Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision to support tasks

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with coding/scripting languages such as Java, C++, Python, PERL, GIT, Java Script, TCL/TK, Bash
  • Experience leading software projects and/or software teams
  • Experience providing support to software installs and system upgrades, participating in one or more of the following roles: integration; technical working groups; factory checkouts; system tests/checkouts; installation planning and rehearsals
  • Experience with software configuration management systems
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance with C.I. polygraph security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a 24x7 large O&M environment
  • Experience with programing languages COBOL, FORTRAN, or PASCAL
  • Experience with database management and utilization
  • Experience working in a structured configuration-controlled environment, primarily focused on the support and maintenance of real-time software applications on an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract
  • Experience with analytical skills and the ability to recommend and implement solutions to software engineering problems and issues (some of which may occur outside normal day staff hours)
  • Experience with Linux/Unix, GIT, and SQL
  • Experience with current IC or DoD operational environments and policies or supporting operational systems
