About The Position

Torch Technologies is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join our team in developing, testing, and supporting cutting-edge software systems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across both software development and lab operations, contributing to hands-on integration, testing, and demonstration activities that support our mission-focused research and development environment at Torch’s Soldier Touchpoint Research Center (STRC) in Lawton, OK.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 2-5 years applicable software design engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, C#, Java).
  • Experience with software development best practices, version control, and testing methodologies.
  • Ability to work hands-on with hardware and software systems in a lab environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting lab environments, testing facilities, simulations, or system integration.
  • Familiarity with DevOps pipelines, configuration management, or automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience working with defense, aerospace, or government R&D programs (or high-assurance software domains).
  • Exposure to QA processes and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications in support of ongoing programs.
  • Installing and configuring new software releases and system updates.
  • Setting up, integrating, and maintaining hardware, support equipment, and peripheral technologies used in laboratory and field experiments.
  • Assisting with preparation and execution of demonstrations and stakeholder events.
  • Supporting soldier-involved testing, experiments, and evaluation activities.
  • Support lab configuration tasks, including moving equipment and rearranging workspace.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and project partners to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for coordination of software verification, validation, and quality assurance activities with a remote QA team, facilitating clear communication, test execution alignment, and timely resolutions.
  • Support occasional shipping and receiving activities between Torch offices, includes packaging, inventory tracking, and coordination of technical equipment transfers.
