About The Position

At Humana, a Fortune 100 healthcare technology leader, our Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) platform is a critical engine supporting millions of members, pharmacists, and clinical partners. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team and help shape the Future of PBM Technology. As a Software Engineer 2, you will build a brand-new Pharmacy Eligibility application. This will involve modernizing legacy components, improved resiliency and performance, and enhanced backend workflows. The goal is to ensure our members get their claims adjudicated promptly. We are looking for someone who enjoys collaborating, learning new technologies, coaching other engineers, and leading the development of reliable, enterprise-grade applications. This role will get some direction from a Senior Software Engineer. It is well-suited for individuals looking for opportunities in the latest technology, including the use of AI tools like Claude code or GitHub Copilot.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in systems analysis or application programming development
  • Experience in PySpark, Databricks and Cloud engineering
  • Experience deploying and maintaining Cloud-based applications using Azure App Service or Azure Kubernetes Service
  • Experience with relational databases at scale
  • Knowledge of server-side languages .Net, .Net Core or .Net Framework 7.0 and higher
  • Experience with event-driven or message-driven systems
  • Experience with CI/CD software development methodology

  • Experience with PostgreSQL or MS-SQL
  • Experience with Kafka Streaming platform
  • Experience with a modern, client-side framework such as Angular, React or Vue

  • Participate across the full development lifecycle, including coding, testing, debugging, optimizing, and deploying production-ready systems.

  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, identifying root-cause and implementing long-term solutions.
  • Collaborate with agile teams, partnering with product, architecture, and quality assurance to create solutions aligned with business and consumer needs.
  • Contribute to an engineering culture that values innovation, continuous learning, and continuous improvement of the consumer journey.
  • Be a technical authority, driving architectural direction, elevating engineering quality, and delivering scalable applications that support healthcare outcomes.
