About The Position

Become a part of something IMPACT-ful! Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation’s defense against ballistic missile attacks. The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat. The Work The selected candidate will become part of the Ground-based Mid-course Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) Contract in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The GMD Program is a critical part of the nations layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the US with the capability to engage and intercept long range ballistic missile threats during midcourse flight. The Ground Systems component of GMD provides the capability to process data received from radars and overhead sensors, communicate across a complex network of redundant nodes, interact with the warfighter, compute intercept solutions, command and direct the ground based interceptors to their targets. Essential Functions: Maintain lab and mini node configurations to include adding, removing, updating redhat package manager modules (RPMs) for testing/verification Produce lab runs to test and evaluate new software capabilities as well as perform daily log file management Create scenarios and input files to evaluate specific conditions and software behaviors in the GMD Fire Control software Perform message tracing between portions of GFC software to ensure system functions as intended Investigate and document issues discovered during lab runs and provide log files to software developers Attain/Maintain Security+ certification and continuation education training requirements for a privileged user account Support daily Scrum meetings Who We Are Lockheed Martin is a global aerospace, defense, and security company dedicated to advancing scientific discovery and harnessing innovation to make the world a safer place. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master’s Degree
  • Active U.S .DoD Secret security clearance
  • Fundamental understanding of the systems engineering process and experience with system development of a software-centric product (preferably with a system in a system of systems type environment)
  • C++, Java, ADA
  • Experience generating scripts and a fundamental understanding of software development with the ability to troubleshoot and support software integration efforts
  • Detail oriented at both the macro and micro levels along with a willingness to assess software from both perspectives
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Power Point.

  • Well-organized and intrinsically motivated to work with limited direction in a dynamic team environment, often requiring the ability to successfully juggle competing priorities

  • Desire and curiosity to learn more about the components of GMD and how they fit together and communicate.
  • Current Security+ certification
  • GMD experience
  • Missile Defense Agency (MDA) experience
  • Experience with application software and systems that contain Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), logical and mathematical solutions in a Linux environment
  • C++, Java, ADA
  • Linux GUI building tools, such as Eclipse and GPS.
