Software Engineer Manager - Payments [Charlotte or Birmingham]
About The Position
At Regions, the Software Engineer Manager oversees application development for a large or complex department within the company. This role manages strategy development to ensure the application portfolio meets current business requirements and is operational, stable, reliable, and technically mature. The position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is incentive eligible. This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to Birmingham, AL or Charlotte, NC. Exceptions to the geographic location requirement may be made for current Regions associates who work remotely. Regions will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position at this time. Applicants for this position must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Eight (8) years of relevant experience, of which two (2) years must be in a supervisory/managerial capacity
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a Technology role in banking or a financial services industry
- Experience managing a portfolio of payment processing systems, including engineering and systems administration.
- Preferred experience working with global teams and/or managed service providers.
- Preferred experience upgrading, modernizing, or transforming enterprise systems.
Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of system design, development, deployment, acquisition, and ongoing maintenance for all application systems within areas of responsibility
- Serves as the primary technology contact for senior management from all areas of the organization in developing technology solutions that increase the efficiency of internal business functions, resolves business problems, and supports the pursuit of business opportunities for areas of responsibility
- Creates and refines operational processes and systems to ensure effective regulatory and audit compliance
- Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions
- Evaluates customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrates technical parameters, and ensures compatibility of all interfaces
- Supports the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements through management processes
- Partners across Technology, Operations, Digital, and Data (TODD) to ensure controls are designed, implemented, and monitored to strengthen risk management, compliance, and cyber security, effectively mitigating risk to levels within the company’s risk appetite
- Ensures disciplined change management by evaluating risk and control impacts when designing or implementing changes to processes, systems, products, and/or services
