About The Position

Markon is seeking a Software Engineer Level 2 to design, develop, and sustain mission-critical software systems for our Fort Meade Customer. This role requires deep expertise in Java-based development, distributed processing, and cloud technologies to support high-performance, scalable solutions within complex operational environments.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
Strong proficiency in Java development.
Experience with MapReduce and large-scale data processing frameworks.
Experience supporting cloud environments and architectures.
Hands-on experience with GhostMachine and QTA.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and enterprise integration.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting Intelligence Community or DoD systems.
Familiarity with distributed systems, performance tuning, and high-throughput environments.
Experience working in classified or mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Java-based software applications supporting mission requirements.
Develop and optimize distributed processing solutions, including MapReduce-based workflows.
Support cloud-based architectures, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
Integrate and maintain systems leveraging GhostMachine and QTA technologies.
Analyze system and user requirements to derive effective software solutions.
Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software issues across development and production environments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust system design and operational effectiveness.
Contribute to and uphold software development best practices, standards, and documentation.
