About The Position

Tangram Flex is seeking a Software Engineer to support the development, integration, and sustainment of advanced Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) capabilities for the U.S. Air Force. The engineer will join a collaborative, mission-driven team responsible for designing, developing, testing, and delivering complex software systems that drive next-generation simulation and training solutions within the Air Force enterprise. POSITION DESCRIPTION / As a Software Engineer you will be part of a team responsible for designing, developing, testing, and delivering complex software systems . Working onsite at WPAFB, office and hybrid in the Dayton area.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Security Clearance or held within the last 12 months.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering or system development.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with software design, development, integration, and testing in complex system environments.
  • Understanding of software version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Air Force projects, especially in modeling, simulation, or training domains.
  • Familiarity with JSE architecture, flight simulation frameworks, or real-time systems.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, Agile/Scrum practices, and CI/CD environments.
  • Knowledge of Linux-based systems, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), or cloud-based environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test software components and systems supporting JSE capabilities.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)—from requirements analysis through development, integration, verification, and sustainment.
  • Contribute to the architecture and system design for scalable and maintainable software solutions.
  • Develop and optimize simulation software to support mission support, training, and analysis environments.
  • Work closely with other engineers, system integrators, and Air Force stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with program goals.
  • Apply agile and DevSecOps practices for code integration, testing, and delivery.
  • Maintain adherence to DoD cybersecurity, software assurance, and configuration management standards.
