About The Position

As a Software Engineer you will work as a member of the program delivery team and support the product development team. Both teams focus on developing and supporting the delivery of a monitor and control software, ViaControl, for satellite antenna systems. You will be participating in active software development of device drivers and product features using either a waterfall or agile methodology. We are seeking a Software Engineer Intern with experience working in Python and knowledge of various communication protocols including TCP, SNMP, and REST. An ideal candidate will have the knowledge and desire to support the design, development, implementation, integration, and testing of the ViaControl M&C software.

Requirements

• Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher program in computer science, engineering, or related field
• To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2026 and August 2027
• Internship Dates: You must be available to work 40 hours/week for the full duration of the internship program as outlined in the cohort dates below. Limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars:
• Cohort 1: May 18, 2026 – August 14, 2026
• Cohort 2: June 22, 2026 – September 18, 2026
• Citizenship: This position requires U.S. citizenship
• Additional:
• Strong analytical skills to approach and solve problems effectively
• Ability to articulate thoughts clearly, both in writing and verbally, to collaborate with other team members
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing environments

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on development experience with Python
• Experience with Ansible
• Knowledge of LINUX OS platform, preferably RedHat or Centos
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP, SNMP, REST

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and document device drivers
• Configure and deploy ViaControl M&C software onto various hardware and antenna systems
• Support internal and external customers with general questions and support in resolving issues
• Work closely with the product development team to support feature development and provide feedback on system performance
• Support other team members in meeting delivery timeline and resolving any issues
