About The Position

Nuvotronics’ antenna product portfolio is expanding in response to growing demands from the satellite communications and defense markets for higher operating frequencies and broader bandwidths. To support this growth, Nuvotronics is seeking a dedicated Antenna Engineer (AE) to drive the success of multiple antenna products across various stages of the product lifecycle. The AE plays a critical, multifaceted role within the organization. First, the AE applies product knowledge and real-world application experience to support customers in the design-in and deployment of existing antenna products. This includes maintaining accurate antenna models and performance data, answering installation and integration questions, and serving as the customer’s primary technical point of contact. Second, the AE works closely with Nuvotronics’ Engineering team to develop new antenna products, spanning both internal roadmap initiatives and customer-funded programs. The AE performs electromagnetic simulation and design optimization and guides designs through prototyping, validation, and production handoff. Third, the AE partners with Sales and Product Management to shape future offerings. This includes gathering and documenting customer technical requirements and translating them into detailed concepts that address customer needs. Finally, the AE supports antenna-adjacent product development—such as baluns, hybrid couplers, and other passive beamforming components—in a similar end-to-end fashion. As a result, this role offers a unique opportunity to work across the entire business and with our customer community, serving as Nuvotronics’ technical authority on antennas. The ideal candidate brings strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, along with a solid foundation in the theory and practical design of wideband sensors and phased-array antennas. Guided by Nuvotronics’ senior technical leadership, the AE will have exceptional opportunities for professional growth and impact within the organization.

Requirements

  • BSEE required; MSEE preferred, with 5+ years of antenna design experience.
  • Experience in the design, manufacturing, and test of antennas, with preference for millimeter-wave applications.
  • Strong understanding of frequency-independent antennas (e.g., spiral, sinuous) and phased-array elements.
  • Strong understanding of radome design and construction.
  • Expertise in antenna modeling and optimization using commercially available full-wave simulation tools (CST, HFSS).
  • Strong understanding of microwave component engineering as it relates to feeding wideband antennas.
  • Experience using analytical tools such as MATLAB and JMP to process large test datasets and generate performance plots.
  • Availability to travel occasionally (<10%) to customer facilities to support sales initiatives and key design reviews.
  • Must be eligible to receive a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Security clearance
  • Experience in the Defense, SATCOM, or RF products industries is highly desirable.
  • Experience in business development or technical sales to an engineering audience is highly desirable.
  • Experience developing hardware specifications through a consultative process with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, serving as Nuvotronics’ in-house antenna expert.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for antenna-related customer questions, providing modeling and integration support.
  • Create and maintain technical datasheets, presentations, and model files for new and existing antenna products.
  • Aggregate customer requirements and generate detailed antenna concepts and technical solutions for new product opportunities.
  • Lead development of new antenna products from conceptual design through handoff to production.
  • Perform electromagnetic simulation, analysis, and optimization of wideband and phased-array antennas.
  • Work with Test Engineering to perform antenna pattern measurements of prototypes and advise on the development of production test systems.
  • Upgrade the capabilities of in-house antenna measurement systems and partner with external measurement facilities as needed.
  • Perform detailed RF design of antenna feed components such as baluns, hybrid couplers, power combiners, and other passive components.
