About The Position

This Software Engineer III position is on the Item and Inventory team, which is responsible for ensuring customers receive their orders frictionlessly and predictably. The team creates reusable SaaS products and services for catalog management and end-to-end inventory management, including replenishment, fulfillment, and transportation, providing tools for drivers and partners to deliver items correctly and on time. The role involves developing impactful solutions that enhance the end-user experience, bringing innovative ideas, identifying improvements, and contributing to process enhancements. It also includes developing n-tier applications using Microservices, Java/J2EE, and related technologies, participating in medium-scale projects with cross-functional teams, collaborating with engineers (including offshore associates), providing guidance and solution reviews, analyzing business requirements in an agile development environment with rapid turnaround times, and promoting positive team dynamics.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area, OR 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Experience in software development in an agile environment.
Proficiency in Advanced Java and strong algorithmic skills.
Knowledge of Java, Spring, JPA, JUnit, REST services, and design patterns.
Skills in messaging platforms like Kafka.
Experience with test-driven development.
Familiarity with databases like DB2, MS SQL, and NoSQL databases such as Cassandra.
Experience with Cloud platforms (Azure), git, Jenkins, and Kubernetes.
Scripting skills in Shell or Bash and knowledge on .Net and Unix.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
