By using Akamai's internet-scale data, we proactively detect and prevent phishing, account abuse, and other fraudulent activity. Partner with the best As a Software Engineer II, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and build high-performance solutions. You will be responsible for developing the core APIs, SDKs, and intelligence layers that power our security products.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Demonstrate production-level proficiency in Golang and Python API servers, with hands-on experience with Trino/Presto, Redis, and Cassandra.
  • Have experience in SDK and library development across Java, Python, and Golang
  • Show proven expertise building and optimizing high-volume data pipelines for reading from and writing to object storage
  • Demonstrate ability to integrate LLMs into your daily development flow to increase productivity
  • Show understanding of data structures, algorithms, schema design (Cassandra CQL, Parquet), query optimization (Trino SQL), and distributed query engine maintenance with policy enforcement via OPA.
  • Prove proficiency in manipulating and extracting value from large datasets (DuckDB, Apache Arrow, pandas, numpy)

Responsibilities

  • Writing production-level code for high-concurrency APIs, core system components, and robust SDKs in Java/Python/Golang.
  • Participating in and leading design reviews to select and implement technologies for distributed query processing, async messaging pipelines and LLM-driven agents.
  • Reviewing code, providing technical feedback, and maintaining documentation for complex data architectures including multi-cluster Trino, Cassandra, Redis, and client-facing SDKs.
  • Triaging, debugging, and resolving issues within distributed big data systems and high-volume Kafka-driven pipelines, and Kubernetes-managed services
  • Integrating LLMs and automated workflows into the daily development lifecycle to maintain high velocity and productivity.
