This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we’re developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin’s mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Enterprise Technology Transformation team. You will work with architects, engineers, system owners, product managers and business leaders at multiple levels to design and build highly scalable enterprise systems that address business problems and accelerate building the road to space! As a member of the team you will also develop core components of our Enterprise Resource Planning platform at Blue Origin, a critical and core component of Blue Origin's success. You will apply your software engineering expertise, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required! We seek intelligent, driven, courteous, and cooperative engineers who enjoy tackling challenging business and manufacturing issues. Aerospace experience is not required! You will have full ownership of engineering challenges and collaborate with fellow engineers. The success of the mission at Blue Origin depends on the software that you and your team will build.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or scientific discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree
  • Experience in full stack development
  • Proficient in using LLMs to accelerate software development

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Go or Rust
  • Experience with version control, continuous integration, and continuous delivery concepts
  • Deep understanding of testing, continuous integration, build, deployment & monitoring
  • Expertise in debugging, profiling, and improving application performance
  • Experience in design and development of cloud native solutions, micro-services and backend systems
  • Experience working with in-stream data processing using Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or similar technologies
  • Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Front-end experience in Angular, React, or similar JavaScript framework
  • Advanced level SQL and scripting
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skill

Responsibilities

  • Develop highly reliable software solutions that are used across Blue Origin
  • Create new applications that improve how Blue Origin's business operates
  • Own all aspects of software engineering
  • Deep dive into your users’ problems and partner with product managers to find and create efficient solutions
  • Play an active role in architectural design, code reviews, and challenging requirements
