About The Position

As a “Software Engineer II - Automation” within Shared Development Services’ Automation team, you will play a critical role in accelerating game delivery across 2K’s Game studios. You will focus on the implementation and execution of automation software. Your goal will be to help developers improve game quality by streamlining development workflows. By building and integrating automation software, you will be helping game developers deliver some of the most ambitious titles in the industry This is a hands-on role focused on high-quality code and feature ownership within a small team. An excellent candidate will have a strong commitment to individual technical excellence and peer collaboration. This role is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about the intersection of software craftsmanship and game development. Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, automation development, or a technically equivalent role.
  • Programming Literacy: Solid understanding of at least one modern compiled language (e.g., C#, C++, or Go) and proficiency in a scripting language such as Python for task automation.
  • Pipeline Tooling: Practical experience using and maintaining CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, TeamCity, or Horde) to support automated build and test workflows.
  • Test Implementation: Demonstrated ability to implement, run, and debug automated tests—such as functional, smoke, and integration tests
  • AI Tooling Interest: A proactive interest in applying AI-assisted development tools (e.g., LLMs) to streamline personal coding tasks and improve scripts.

Nice To Haves

  • Game Engine Familiarity: Prior exposure to the development workflows of modern commercial game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine) or large-scale proprietary engines.
  • Unreal Ecosystem: Direct experience with Unreal Engine-specific automation tools, such as Gauntlet, Horde, or the Unreal Build Accelerator (UBA).
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Introductory knowledge of cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Performance Basics: Exposure to profiling tools and an interest in learning to automate the detection of performance or memory regressions.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance & Maintain Automation: Develop and update automated test scripts within established frameworks to ensure game features are consistently verified across every build.
  • Pipeline Integration: Assist in integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to provide the rapid feedback loops essential for high-velocity AAA game production.
  • Investigate & Resolve: Identify and debug failures in automation scripts and build pipelines. With senior engineers to resolve technical blockers
  • Feature Ownership: Take responsibility for well-defined technical tasks and small feature sets, ensuring high-quality delivery
  • Support Studio Partners: Provide direct support to game teams, helping them act on automation data and learn to use new testing tools.
