In line with the mission and values mentioned above, California Casualty is currently looking to add to its existing team with a new Software Engineer I and we hope that might be you! We are looking for a dedicated and collaborative Software Engineer I to join our team and contribute to building reliable, high‑quality technology solutions. In this role, you will support the development and improvement of our applications, work closely with team members across the organization, and help ensure our systems are secure, efficient, and maintainable. We’re seeking someone who is eager to learn, comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment, and ready to take on a variety of responsibilities that support our team’s success.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of software programming language, java, SQL and database concepts.
  • 0 – 2 years’ experience in the field or in a related area.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent – Required

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS in computer science, software or a related field – Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participates in code reviews; provides and receives constructive feedback to improve code quality.
  • Collaborates with senior engineers; designs, develops and maintains software applications using Java and Object-Oriented programming principles.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of RESTful API’s; ensures that they are efficient, secure and maintainable.
  • Assists in integrating software.
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to understand requirements; delivers software solutions that meet business needs.
  • Contributes to the testing and debugging of software applications; identifies and resolves basic issues.
  • Other duties as required: Job may require fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.
