About The Position

This requisition is for an RTX intern converting to a full-time position in 2026. The Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit specializes in multi-domain integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors, and cyber solutions. The ASDS team aims for program execution, business growth, and high customer satisfaction, providing capabilities in detection, sensing, command and control, and various munitions for air, space, and missile defense missions. Within ASDS, Space Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (Sub-SBU) delivers information superiority from space, multi-mission automation and orchestration, multiple intelligence (Multi-INT) and resilient operations, secure processing, and data management. This position is an onsite role in Aurora, CO, focusing on designing, developing, testing, delivering, and maintaining software for cutting-edge satellite ground systems, working with talented teams in an Agile environment. The role offers learning opportunities in advanced software technologies (multi-tiered architectures, AWS web services, microservice design), modern DevSecOps and CI/CD techniques, software lifecycle practices for large-scale defense projects, and satellite ground system technologies (command & telemetry, flight dynamics, planning and scheduling, spacecraft operations).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) obtained prior to start
  • Experience as a software intern at Raytheon
  • Experience with C++, Python, and JavaScript
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required on day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Agile development.
  • Experience working within LINUX/UNIX operating systems.
  • Experience working with applications in the AWS Cloud
  • Experience with microservices using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Development
  • Experience with one or more areas of satellite ground system software such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, or flight dynamics models
