About The Position

Cameo Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Software Engineer and I&C Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at the Hanford Site. This role is critical to the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) project, providing oversight, technical assessment, and consultation to ensure compliance, safety, and operational readiness of High-Level Waste (HLW) facilities.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, or Business Management, OR Accredited high school certificate + 8 years of specialized experience in engineering, science, or business management.
  • Experience: 14+ years of directly applicable experience as a senior executive, consultant, or technical lead interfacing with government or industry executives.
  • Experience in testing, operations, maintenance, or training within a nuclear facility.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledge of DOE Orders (e.g., 422.1, 426.2, 425.1D) and Hanford Site mission/priorities.
  • Other: U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain WTP site access and DOE Startup Engineer qualification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Nuclear Power Plants or similar high-hazard environments.
  • Proven track record as an I&C/Electrical/DCS/Software Startup Engineer.
  • Advanced degree or certifications in Electrical Design, Root Cause Investigation, or Setpoint Calculation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Hanford processes, DOE program management, and technology tools used at the site.
  • Expertise in Microsoft 365, especially MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct oversight and assessments of contractor support systems to ensure compliance with DOE standards, engineering principles, and professional practices.
  • Identify, analyze, and report contractor performance using iCAS and other oversight tools.
  • Provide technical resolution for issues related to software, I&C, electrical, mechanical, and chemical engineering systems.
  • Review HLW technical products, including system requirements, safety designs, startup test indices, and field execution.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, DOE entities, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to ensure system operability and safety.
  • Validate program requirements and support risk mitigation for HLW and supporting facilities.
  • Prepare and submit detailed weekly and monthly progress reports to the Technical Monitor.
