The Software Engineering Operations Manager (People Manager) partners closely with Software Engineering Technical Managers to ensure engineering teams are engaged, developed, and operating at peak effectiveness. This role emphasizes people leadership, performance management, and cultural alignment while ensuring operational processes and employee development support technical delivery goals.

Requirements

  • A people-first leader with strong coaching and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communicator who can influence across teams
  • Highly organized, analytical, and comfortable in fast-paced environments
  • Passion for modern engineering practices and continuous improvement
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, engineering leadership, or related roles
  • At least 2 years of direct people management experience leading engineers
  • Proven success building and developing high-performing engineering teams
  • Strong knowledge of C#, ASP.NET, Angular, .NET (Framework 4.8+ or .NET 8+)
  • Experience with system architecture, design patterns, security, and scalability
  • Working knowledge of operating systems, version control, and development security tools
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and retention to ensure strong technical and cultural fit
  • Set performance expectations and provide coaching and feedback to engineers
  • Identify skills gaps and build individualized development and mentorship plans
  • Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence
  • Operational Oversight
  • Design and continuously improve engineering processes, workflows, and tools
  • Monitor team performance and develop performance improvement plans
  • Balance workload allocation to optimize productivity and employee well-being
  • Coordinate incident response and ensure timely problem resolution
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, and Business teams to support delivery
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering and leadership on risks, progress, and opportunities
