About The Position

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer III (SDE III) to join our growing infrastructure engineering team at ID.me. As an SDE III, you will be instrumental in enabling engineers to rapidly bootstrap new projects (such as new API services), upgrade existing services to align with best practices, and ensure consistent adoption of production standards across the organization. This role is based out of our Mountain View, CA office or Mclean, VA office, and requires full-time in-office attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a platform or product infrastructure team.
  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and DevOps tooling.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience with security compliance in enterprise environments (e.g., SOC2, FedRAMP).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in technical contexts.
  • Passion for mentorship, documentation, and elevating team performance.

  • Experience building or contributing to internal development platforms, SDKs, or scaffolding tools.

  • Demonstrated ownership of at least one significant project or feature from design through launch.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of high-quality CLI tools, GitHub Actions, or other automation to apply standardized production readiness configurations (e.g., security settings, observability setup, infrastructure hooks).
  • Own end-to-end delivery of medium to large platform features or services, from technical design through deployment and support.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and pairing.
  • Collaborate, contribute to, and evolve the internal platform experience, ensuring high usability and developer satisfaction.
  • Drive best practices in code quality, observability, security, and operational readiness.
  • Contribute to the evolution of ID.me's platform by building foundational services and frameworks used across the organization.
