About The Position

NextGen is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Developer to join our team in support of C5ISR Center critical defense and intelligence missions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation in software development and integration activities while leveraging prior intelligence experience to bridge software engineering with intelligence operations for battlefield systems. Such as work in Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), threat analysis, or related domains to deliver high-impact solutions for secure, mission-critical applications.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance (minimum); eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) clearance as required by the contract. U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
  • Education: Bachelors degree with 3+ years’ experience. (Years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree).
  • Certifications: Security+ (or higher DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II/III compliance).
  • Intelligence Background: Demonstrated prior experience or strong working knowledge in intelligence domains, such as signals intelligence (SIGINT).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in multiple programming languages and tools relevant to intel/cyber applications, including Python, C++, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and scripting (e.g., Bash/PowerShell). Experience with version control (Git), and Agile/DevOps practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Domain Knowledge: Adapt skills to military contexts, including compliance and operational integration.
  • Intelligence Integration: Knowledge of tools for SIGINT/GEOINT processing, such as custom APIs for fusing intel data with Army command systems.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, classified environment. Excellent written and verbal communication for interfacing with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineers, program managers, government POCs).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and debug software solutions for C5ISR systems, prototypes, and enhancements, including writing secure, efficient code (commonly in Python, C++, Java, MATLAB, C#) to support mission-critical capabilities such as tactical networks, electronic warfare models, signal processing, software-defined radios, cybersecurity tools, and intelligence data fusion.
  • Perform software integration, troubleshooting to integrate software with hardware platforms, third-party components, and existing Army systems.
  • Apply secure software engineering practices and cybersecurity compliance: follow DoD standards (e.g., RMF, secure coding, DoD 8140/8570 requirements); conduct vulnerability analysis; harden software against threats.
  • Develop and iterate software prototypes for C5ISR capabilities and integration with hardware platforms in lab environments.
  • Support lab-based test prototypes in operationally relevant scenarios.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, document work, and support program goals: Work alongside government engineers, scientists, program offices, and Soldiers; participate in code reviews, technical reporting, demonstrations, and transition activities.
