About The Position

The NASA SES III contract provides IT services throughout all aspects of the engineering process of the entire space systems arena. We are looking for a Software Developer Associate who values exploration, discovery, efficiency, and finding resolutions to complex issues. Our team supports NASA located at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), “home to the nation's largest organization of scientists, engineers, and technologists who build spacecraft, instruments and new technology to study Earth, the sun, our solar system, and the universe.” Location: This is a hybrid position requiring on-site support at Goddard Space Flight Center (Greenbelt, MD) 1–3 days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. The Goddard Mission Services Evolution Center (GMSEC) mission is an integrated effort across multiple GSFC organizations to provide GSFC mission services. GMSEC provides mission enabling, cost reducing, and risk reducing data system solutions applicable to current and future missions managed by GSFC. GMSEC will enable the continued recognition of GSFC as a leader in space mission expertise and services. GMSEC is composed of architecture, a set of core software components, and interface standards that together address many of the problems associated with developing and efficiently operating complex and long-term software systems.

Requirements

  • Must be knowledgeable in current software development techniques that exploit latest advances in computer technology to produce fast executing programs.
  • Proficient in software development to include requirements development, software design, software coding (including secure coding) and testing, integration, and acceptance testing.
  • Skilled in high-level programming languages, e.g., C/C++, Java, Python, or FORTRAN.
  • Proven track record of collaborating in team-based, mission-focused environments
  • US Citizenship is required, and Section 508 (Agency Standards) is applicable.
  • Ability to obtain required National Agency Check (NAC) clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develops or modifies application programs for operations ranging from routine to complex to highly specialized.
  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains programs.
  • Works in all levels and phases of application systems analysis and programming activities.
  • Programming approach and methods may be self-determined or part of a team collaboration involving Principal Investigators, other software developers, and software and systems engineers.
