About The Position

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (Simulation Systems)-Junior to support Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test & Evaluation. The Digital Analytics, Infrastructure, and Technology Advancement (DAiTA) Group is at the cutting edge of Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (AARDT&E). Our state-of-the-art laboratories are equipped to work seamlessly together, enabling comprehensive testing and evaluation of aircraft and weapons systems across the Department of Defense. The Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test (IBST) Department is at the heart of this innovative ecosystem. This team is the driving force behind the research, development, management, design, documentation, fabrication, installation, integration, testing, evaluation, operation, and maintenance of the Air Combat Environment Test Facility (ACETEF) and other DAiTA AARDT&E capabilities, laboratories, and facilities. Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in a relevant field with 3 years or less of relevant professional experience OR AS/AA Degree in a relevant field with 2 years of recent and relevant professional experience OR HS Diploma or equivalent with completed military service in a relevant Military Occupational Specialty (MOSC)-Relevant college or internship experience accepted as years of experience
  • Experience with C++
  • Experience with analysis software (Ex. MATLAB) and other programming languages (Ex. Python)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain SAP and/or SCI access as required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance-AMEWAS willing to obtain and process full clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GUI development frameworks, preferably QT (Java Swing is also valuable)
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and Linux/Unix environments
  • Knowledge of Software Defined Radio (SDR) frameworks
  • Experience acting as a team lead, project manager or principal software architect

Responsibilities

  • Works as part of team for software integration within the Next-Generation Electronic Warfare Environment Generator Management Office
  • Applies engineering principles to the complete system lifecycle (research and requirements, software/hardware design, development, implementation, testing, analysis)
  • Develops software-driven solutions to complex and varied technical challenges, focusing on system performance, user interfaces and data communication
  • Operates in a shared lab environment where senior engineers will provide training, guidance and collaboration on various technical challenges
  • Designs, develops, implements and maintains software for EW system control, data processing and analysis using C++
  • Develops software-based simulation environments, user interfaces (GUIs) and support tools to model complex Radio Frequency (RF) environments
  • Manages data flow and communication between subsystems using publish/subscribe architectures and low-level network protocols
  • Develops and executes comprehensive test plans, procedures and automated analysis scripts for system evaluation and verification
  • Utilizes build automation tools (CMAKE) for managing the process of software builds, testing and deployment
  • Analyzes test data to assess system performance, author detailed technical reports and create data visualizations
  • Performs system integration, software configuration management and quality assurance testing
