SUMMARY Provide Software Development research support services that involve design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing applications software as related to the Combat Casualty Care mission in various clinical environments. Assist with ongoing research that addresses Medical Simulation and Information Sciences Research Program (MSISRP) and the Combat Casualty Care Research Program (CCCRP) MSISRP technology gaps for the Engineering, Technology, and Automation Combat Research Team (CRT6) to include the Semi-Automated Casualty Care System (SACM), Augmented Reality (AR) Technology for PFC, Smart Tourniquet and Validation of Automated Vascular Access Devices projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Develop systems concepts and prototypes from military requirements that address MSISRP and CCCRP technology gaps. Provide computer programming for integrating data acquisition and clinical applications IAW institutional Information Management Division (IMD) policies. Perform image processing and analysis to develop image recognition systems. Develop soft/hard real-time control of open- and closed-loop medical devices. Conduct medical device integration (including machine intelligent components) for automatic collection and integration of patient vital signs data from medical devices to electronic medical records. Process data from heterogeneous data streams and integrate multiple data sources to produce more consistent, accurate, and useful information. Conceptualize/design/develop/test/evaluate integration software for clinical information systems data exchange, such as an electronic medical record in relational database repositories. Research/integrate (rules and processes) for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine intelligent applications. Integrate software for statistical applications. Develop clinical decision support software to integrate data acquisition systems and algorithms/controllers for the clinical end-user. Utilize published scientific references to remain current in the fields of engineering, automated technologies, physiology, and combat casualty care research. Facilitate the gathering and sharing of relevant intellectual knowledge, expertise, and data with clinical and research groups within the federal government, private sector, and research facilities. Perform research and development in the fields of physiological modeling, clinical decision support software, human factors and usability testing, autonomous/unmanned medical systems, medical robotics, cloud-based computing, AI, machine/deep learning, and virtual health technologies. Review instrumentation modeling relevant to the CRT3 mission. Perform ultrasonic research and development in alignment with USAISR and CRT3 missions. Perform data format analysis for content and data type. Assist with drafting and submitting CRADAs, invention disclosures, and patent documentation to intellectual property protection organizations. Document software and hardware design. Develop software and submit documentation to the USAISR Regulatory Compliance and Quality Management Divisions, IACUC or IRB IAW the applicable FDA regulations related to medical devices. Work closely with USAISR IMD for tracking software and hardware device requirements for the development of medical systems. Contribute to at least two publishable research findings per CFTE in the form of abstracts/papers/presentations/posters each year. Present findings at lectures/seminars/scientific conferences. Identify end-user requirements including specifications for software and application development. Provide oversight of assignments and guidance to junior level Software Developers. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Perform other duties as assigned.
