About The Position

Ensuring the Safety of our patients: Social Workers Make it Possible Social Worker - Emergency Department - Columbia Pursue your Social Work career as part of the Columbia University Medical Center - NY Presbyterian Hospital. As a member of the Emergency Department you will work at one of the top hospital-based social work department were your discipline is immensely respected. We're committed to the health and safety of our patients, their families and the people in our communities. Work with and be a part of the multidisciplinary health care team in the Emergency Department (ED). You will participate in comprehensive evaluations, provide psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention as well as discharge planning to pediatric/adolescent patients and their families. This is a full time midshift position working Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays 2pm - 12am with rotating holiday coverage.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
  • New York State License as a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW)

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency Department experience
  • Experience in providing direct clinical services to patients and families
  • Crisis related experience
  • Experience providing trauma support to children/adolescents and their families in an outpatient settings
  • Bereavement training/experience
  • Knowledge of child abuse (recognizing and reporting)
  • Resource connection
  • Fluency in Spanish
