About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Reporting to the Correctional Associate Superintendent for Programs II at a multi-custody female correctional facility, this position works in the Programs Department and has the primary function is to provide specialized social work case management to female offenders. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Providing specialized social work case management to offenders who have behavioral, mental, emotional and physical disorders. Services offered consist of individual and group counseling, crisis and preventive intervention, community resource referrals, and re-entry planning. 2. Provide social work services in complex cases which require the flexible use of a wide range of social work skills and intervention techniques. 3. Collaborating with the Department of Social Services in all 100 counties in North Carolina and in other states where the offenders’ children reside. 4. Contacting other ancillary personnel such as, school counselors and social workers, group home and foster care personnel, as well as the Court. 5. Coordinating programs for offenders to improve their cognitive skills, behavioral skills, parenting skills and limited mobility skills. (Salary Range: $45,431 - $79,504) This posting will close at 11:59 pm, the night before the end date listed above. About Anson Correctional Institution: Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an appropriately accredited institution; OR Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; OR Master’s degree in a Human Services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
