Position Highlights: Quality of Life: Where career opportunities and quality of life converge Advancement: Strong orientation program, generous tuition allowance and career development Position Summary: The LMSW is responsible for providing services to victims/survivors of sexual, physical and domestic violence, stalking, other crimes as well as to secondary victims of crimes. This position specifically focuses on providing trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to individuals and groups who have survived traumatic events with a caseload consisting of community referrals and referrals generated by the Pelvic Health Department at Albany Memorial Hospital. These services may include: assistance with completing New York State Office of Victim Services compensation claims, crisis counseling and short-term counseling, long-term therapy, advocacy, and accompaniment through the criminal, family, and civil court proceedings.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or related field is required.
  • NYS LMSW or LCSW or LMHC licensure is preferred.
  • Previous experience providing counseling to individuals and groups ages 12 and older is strongly desired.
  • Experience working with victims/survivors of crime is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, Family Court System and Civil Legal System is desired.
  • NYS Department of Health Sexual Assault Counselor Certification is required but will be provided to the desired candidate at no cost if not yet certified
  • A valid NYS driver’s license and dependable transportation are also required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a therapy caseload of 25 to 30 individual clients seen weekly, comprised of community and Pelvic Health clients.
  • Provide direct supportive services to victims/survivors of crime including but not limited to crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling/therapy/groups and NYS Office of Victim Services compensation assistance.
  • Conduct thorough client assessments for pelvic health therapy clients, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their medical and trauma histories to tailor treatment plans effectively
  • Work collaboratively with Pelvic Health PT team members to integrate services and share insights on client care with consent. Promoting a cohesive approach to addressing client needs.
  • Attend monthly interdisciplinary meetings with Pelvic Health Department to provide updates of SPVCS, discuss service offerings, and collaborate on strategies for enhancing overall patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training sessions to stay current with best practices and advancements in pelvic health therapy.
  • Identify and create resources (e.g., informational materials, workshops) to educate clients about pelvic health issues and available therapies.
  • Maintain records both electronic and paper copy in keeping with program requirements and agency confidentiality standards and in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with training new staff, volunteers and per diems.
  • Provide referrals for needed services to victims/survivors.
  • Develop strong and enduring relationships with service organizations and institutions who serve at-risk and high needs communities.
