Position Highlights: Quality of Life: Where career opportunities and quality of life converge Advancement: Strong orientation program, generous tuition allowance and career development What you will do: The Social Worker is responsible for providing services to victims/survivors of sexual, physical and domestic violence, stalking, other crimes and to secondary victims of crimes. This position specifically focuses on providing trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to individuals and groups who have survived traumatic events with approximately half of the caseload consisting of incarcerated individuals who have experienced sexual assault, abuse and harassment with the other half consisting of community referrals. Additionally, this position assists with responding to crisis situations that come through our 24-Hour Hotline. This may include accompaniments to the ED and acting as a supportive advocate in legal matters and in securing needed services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and Family Court process is preferred.
  • Excellent writing skills, public speaking, and proficiency are required.
  • Reliable transportation is required to meet with clients at school locations, to attend any required meetings, and to provide education/outreach programs.
  • New York State Certified Sexual Assault Counselor (or be willing to apply for certification with appropriate training provided by our department).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children and adolescent is preferred.
  • LMSW or LMHC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a therapy caseload of 20 to 25 individual clients seen weekly.
  • Provide supportive services, including but not limited to crisis intervention, counseling/therapy, advocacy, compensation assistance.
