About The Position

The Social Work Coordinator primary responsibilities are to provide clinical evidence based services including, assessments and interventions; program development; Veteran, family, Caregiver and staff education on intimate partner violence; community outreach; resource development; continuous quality improvement activities; and evaluation/consultation. The incumbent is administratively responsible for the clinical programming and daily operations of the program. Develops policies and procedures for program operation and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. The incumbent may be responsible for the program's budget and various control points assigned to the program within the assigned areas. The incumbent manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation. In conjunction with the Service Chief, plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, Veteran and personnel activities for the service.

Responsibilities

Develops and implements the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program specific to his/her area of assignment and insures compliance and collaboration with local facility and the VA Central Office Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program initiatives.
Administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to Veterans, families, Caregivers and VA employees impacted by intimate partner violence.
Participates in direct Veteran, family, Caregiver, and VA employee contacts to identify and assess risk, safety, supports and the development and application of directed clinical treatment interventions.
Provides referral to VA medical and mental health treatment and to other VA services including VA benefits, as well as community-based social services and other non-VA entitlement programs.
Conducts Veteran, family, Caregiver and VA employee interventions to facilitate the identification of intimate partner violence, psychiatric illness, emotional distress and social needs as treatment issues.

Serves as the major consultant for information on negotiating the complex processes Veterans, their families, Caregivers and VA employees encounter when interacting with government and community agencies.
Incumbent stays abreast of current federal and state legislation directed at Veterans, their family members, caregiver and/or VA employees who experience and/or use IPV.
Collaborates with the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), Mental Health and Geriatric Primary Care clinicians to provide Veteran and staff education on intimate partner violence.
Serves as a liaison between the VA and community agencies. Participates in IPV assistance activities in the local community and state to promote and recognize the role of individuals who use and/or experience IPV.
Collaborates with the with other clinical staff and program managers will establish a IPV protocol (resources, education and training) sensitive to the issues of those who experience as well as those who use IPV.
Coordinates the events and programs for the annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month every October that includes announcement and advertising of month long activities, mobilization of participants, educational sessions, and VA IPV Assistance programs.
Develops a data monitoring system to measure the efficacy of the program. The incumbent collects, analyzes and reports program data to local management, VISN Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program Coordinator Lead and the National Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program, Care Management and Social Work Service, Office of Patient Care Services.
Performs a wide range of services and provides technical assistance to state, local, and private agencies, and universities.
The incumbent will maintain an unrestricted, unsuspended license to practice social work.
Must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Performs other duties as assigned.
